My wife and I wanted to seriously reduce our carbon footprint and had an eye on a Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) since it was announced in 2016. Given our daily driving needs we can drop both kids off at school and run errands completely on electric driving.

We only use the gas motor for road trips and we've significantly reduced our gas usage. Our electric bill didn't change much due to switching to time of use EV charging.

I would encourage everyone to look into a plug-in for their next purchase! After driving the PHEV for a few months, I ended up leasing a Battery Electric Vehicle and from now on I won't be buying a vehicle unless it has a plug!
