In January of 2017 we took delivery of a Chevy Bolt as our 5th plug in vehicle that we have owned or leased. We are also still driving our 2002 Rav4EV that we have owned since new and as of December of 2018 we have driven a combined total of 280,000 EV only - pure battery powered miles since January of 1999 between all 5 of our plug-in vehicles that we own/have owned. We have a 2013 Chevy Volt as well, but last year we only used 3 gallons of gasoline all year for our routine driving needs in Los Angeles, along with our Bolt and Rav4EV.

Our solar array on our home covers the energy for all three of our plug-in vehicles as well as our home. With our Chevy Bolt in the mild weather of Southern California we typically see 250-275 miles of range, and that totally exceeds our daily driving and it also meets or exceeds the range of many gas cars. We have the fast charging option. To date we have never used or needed it or any public charging to satisfy our driving needs, but it is nice to know that it is there should we take a road trip from home.

While the 2013 Volt has also been an excellent car, it will be the last car we ever purchase for daily driving that uses gasoline.
